Tips for success (recommend bookmarking this page for future reference)
The first step toward the achievement of your goals requires you to be accountable for what you identify as goals and actions during our sessions. Below are some tips to help you establish a plan that aids you in accomplishing your desired outcomes.
- Take notes during sessions and use to create a follow-up plan. Summarize what we have accomplished and identified as next steps.
- Document goals, actions, desired outcomes and how success will look like.
- Note any questions, ideas or issues you didn’t get to discuss that you would like to address. This will keep our sessions focused on everything that is important to you.
- In preparation for our conversations...
- Record accomplishments and status of actions from our last meeting session
- Consider what you would like to focus on during our upcoming meeting
- Note any insights, choices, decisions since our last meeting
- Note what you were not able to get done that you intended to do
- Consider any challenges and obstacles you are facing
- Note any new opportunities that have opened up to you since our last meeting
- Feel free to use the Coaching Session Preparation Form to capture your activity
- Make note of any commitments I have made (as your coach) to you, what I did that was most effective, and also if there is anything you’d like me to do differently.
- Periodically assess progress against your plan and the need for adjustments to achieve goals.
